50m Pool Heating Improvements

To improve your swimming experience at the UQ Sport Aquatic Centre, new heating pumps will be installed in the 50m Pool.

The installation will be carried out by The University of Queensland’s Property and Facilities Division, with work scheduled to take place between Monday 7 and Thursday 10 August.

The 50m Pool is expected to remain open throughout the installation works, however, the water will not be heated.

It is anticipated heating will return to the 50m Pool on Thursday 10 August, however, it may take several days to return to its usual 27°C temperature.

Patrons are urged to utilise the Aquatic Centre’s new 25m Pool – heated to 29°C year-round.

While works are ongoing, selected Kids Learn-to-Swim, Adult Learn-to-Swim, Adult Swim Squad, and Academy Swim Squad sessions will be moved from the 50m Pool to the 25m. Patrons will be notified by Aquatic Centre staff upon check-in.

As a result, the 25m Pool will be at full capacity between 5:30am – 7:30am and 3:30pm – 7:30pm (weekdays), and 7am – 12pm (weekends). Patrons not involved in Learn-to-Swim or Squad sessions are urged to avoid swimming in the 25m Pool during peak times. During this period, at least one lane in the 25m Pool will be open to the general public for lap swimming
