Charity Events

As an organisation, we try to do everything we can to support local charities and fundraising activities. Helping people through sport and exercise is something we feel very passionate about.

See below for some of the great causes we are currently involved with and we hope you'll join other UQ Sporters in our efforts to help out.

UQ Twilight running festival

Get set for the largest Twilight running event in Australia, attracting over 6000 participants for a unique twilight running experience on campus at the University of Queensland St Lucia. The special 10th anniversary of UQ Twilight Running Festival is confirmed for the 22nd April 2018 and is raising money for charities across Australia.

All events start and finish at the UQ Athletics Stadium before embarking on a scenic run along the riverfront. Featuring half marathon, 10km events as well as the popular 5km Run/Walk and the largest U12 Kids event in Australia - the 1km Active Kids Run. Lace up the sneakers and join thousands of runners under the moon and stars on a cool April evening in Brisbane.

For information, and to register, visit the UQ Twilight Running Festival website.

Smiling for Smiddy

Challenge yourself to get the one-up on cancer and set yourself an inspired cycling or triathlon challenge to make a difference. Smiling for Smiddy is a gruelling 1600km cycle across Queensland in only eight short days. UQ Sport hosts a BBQ to raise money for cancer research, in memory of UQ Sport Triathlon Club member Adam Smiddy, who lost his life to melanoma.

Find out more information about this cause on the Smiling for Smiddy website.
