The Provide First Aid & Provide CPR courses are designed for industry, professionals and people who need to meet their workplace industry standards, maintain their first aid qualifications or want to learn important lifesaving skills.

Courses are run by Registered Training Organisation, Australian Health and Safety Training (RTO: 31156) and all courses are nationally recognised under the National Health Training Package HLT07.

Provide First Aid Training - HLTAID003 (including CPR Training):

This is a comprehensive course that covers a range of topics to enable participants to confidently manage emergency situations and provide a first aid response to a casualty. It covers common first aid injuries and medical emergencies and the subsequent provision of appropriate treatment or assistance. This course is engaging, contextualised and practical.

Assessment is through a combination of practical first aid activities and a written test paper. You will be required to demonstrate CPR on a manikin on the floor.

Please note that this course (HLTAID003) is 8 hours in duration (face-to-face) and requires on-line pre-course work to be completed. Once enrolled in this course, these online modules will be emailed directly to you for completion prior to the day of training. 

On successful completion of this course, a Statement of Attainment (HLTAID003 Provide First Aid and HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) will be provided from Australian Health and Safety Training (RTO: 31156) valid for three years. Please note that CPR training (HLTAID001) should be refreshed annually. 

Provide CPR Training - HLTAID001:

 This course will give participants the skills and knowledge to confidently manage emergency situations and provide basic life support for casualties in an emergency. It provides the knowledge and skills required to maintain life for an unconscious casualty until medical help arrives. 

Assessment is through a combination of practical first aid activities and a written test paper. You will be required to demonstrate CPR on a manikin on the floor.

Please note that this course (HLTAID001) is 3 hours in duration (face-to-face). There is no pre-course work required for this course.

On successful completion of this course, a Statement of Attainment (HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) will be provided from Australian Health and Safety Training (RTO: 31156) valid for one year. 

Important Information for all Participants

USI REQUIREMENTS:

  • Since 1 January 2015, all students completing nationally recognised training are required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
  • In order to secure your enrolment, each participant is required to provide us with a USI on the day of their scheduled training session.
  • Please note that AHST is required to report your USI number to our governing authority and cannot issue any certification without doing so.
  • To create a USI please go to the following link: http://www.usi.gov.au.
  • Once you have created your USI, please ensure you bring your USI with you on your day of training.

Pre-Course Work:

As part of the HLTAID003 Provide First Aid Course, pre-course online modules are required to be completed prior to your attendance at your scheduled training session. This will be emailed directly to you, from AHST, once your enrolment has been processed. If you have any queries in this regard, please contact AHST on 1300 655 135 or admin@ahst.com.au.

*There is no pre-course work requirement for CPR Training.

Assessment Requirements:

As part of the practical assessment requirements for CPR and First Aid (as set out by the Australian Government Industry Skills Council Health Training Package), each participant must perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult and baby manikin placed on the floor in order to achieve their statement of attainment. Student Support Requirements:

If you have any learning requirements involving language, literacy and numeracy, or any special physical requirements early contact should be made to ascertain the most appropriate avenue of assistance so competency can be achieved. You will be responsible for costs associated with student support.
