ABOUT THE ROLE
UQ Sport is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Swim Coach to become part of the UQ Sport team. The successful applicant must have a passion for swimming and a desire to get the most out of all swimmers in their squad, irrespective of swimming ability.

The squad program is delivered Monday to Thursday 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm, Friday 3:30pm to 6:00pm and Saturday 6:00 am to 9:00 am. We’re initially looking for someone to deliver coaching for the Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday sessions with a view to increase hours to cover all sessions from mid-year.

Under the direction of the Head Coach Aquatics, UQ Sport has a well-established swimming squad program, which offers both competitive and recreational swimming opportunities for all ages and abilities. The UQ Swimming Club is an affiliated club through UQ Sport and offers an opportunity for swimmers to compete against other clubs.

UQ Sport’s swim squad program seeks to ensure a fun training environment, where swimmers want to participate and swim their best. A key emphasis of the competitive squad program is on learning the correct skills and swimming technique.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
The Swim Coach is responsible for the development, coordination and delivery of high quality swimming programs and provision of a consistent customer experience to create an environment that will maximise participation and increase revenue.

This includes the effective delivery of swimming coaching programs and squad sessions; delivery of initiatives to increase involvement of key stakeholders in swimming programs; provision of exceptional service to current and potential customers and ongoing promotion of UQ Sport’s products and services; communication and consultation with casual staff to ensure that the delivery of these activities meet industry best practice standards and customer expectations; and maintaining a positive profile for UQ Sport in the wide University community.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
You’ll have previous coaching experience and a Junior Squad and Assistant Coach Licence or higher. You’re self-motivated, energetic and personable with excellent communication and customer service skills. Your exceptional relationship building skills will see you integrating well within the organisation. Your well-developed planning and organisational skills will put you ahead of the rest.

For this role you’re required to have current:
• First Aid certificate
• CPR certificate
• RLSS Pool Lifeguard certificate
