The University of Queensland Hockey Club is set to host iconic Yale University for a women’s hockey showdown.

The University of Queensland (UQ) Hockey Club will play the United States’ iconic Yale University in an exhibition hockey match at UQ’s new $24 million Synthetic Fields Precinct.

The match, to be played under lights on Monday 9 January, will feature both UQ and Yale’s Division 1 Women’s teams, and forms part of the Yale Bulldogs 2017 Australian Tour.

Touring internationally every four years, Yale’s Field Hockey team will play five matches against Australian opposition in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sydney.

Yale compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) prestigious Ivy League — an eight-college conference comprising of renowned private institutions such as Columbia University, Harvard University and Princeton University.

The Bulldogs finished the 2016 Ivy League Field Hockey season in sixth position, with a 7-10 win-loss record.

The match between UQ and Yale will begin at 6:30pm, with a pre-match player meet-and-greet taking place on-field from 6pm.

Entry is free with a food and drink service available.

Parking: Paid parking is available at the UQ Synthetic Fields Precinct (entry to car park off Sir William MacGregor Drive)
