UQ Sport Academy’s talent identification service is designed to both pinpoint exceptional young athletes, and provide recommendations to state sporting organisations, clubs and schools in order to fast-track talented athletes into sports where they can excel.
Testing is performed by qualified staff in a safe and fully supervised environment, with activities including vertical jump (lower body power), bench pulls (upper body endurance), 40m sprint (acceleration, speed and power), and the beep test (endurance). In total, eight tests are performed over a two hour period.

Do you have the potential to become an elite athlete? Are you an athlete wanting to explore other sports? Queensland Academy of Sport’s (QAS) Prospecting for Gold (P4G) program – in collaboration with the UQ Sport Academy – is an opportunity to be identified as a top-level athlete!
QAS’ P4G program is a talent transfer & high performance testing opportunity that aims to identify, support and develop talented Queensland-based athletes to produce Australian representatives at the Olympic Games and other international events. The program achieves this by screening and testing potential prospects. Suitable candidates are then fast-tracked by linking them to appropriate coaching programs.
In addition, prospects will have the opportunity for further testing, or introduction to one of the UQ’s many competitive and high performance programs, teams and clubs. These include Rugby Union – in particular Women’s 7s – Rowing, Swimming, Athletics, and more.
Athlete testing will consist of biometric measurements (height, weight, arm span), vertical and broad jumps, throwing movements, timed runs, and stationary bike tests.
