There are four competitions available during the season for men, women and mixed:

  • BWPI – Premier league
  • BPWI – Open
  • BPWI – Social
  • BWPI – Mixed

The season runs from October – December (1st half) and January – April (2nd half). Please note, fixtures are held at a variety of different venues across Brisbane, with competitions running outside of university semester dates.

Prior to each season, an Expression of Interest (EOI) form is sent to current members. If you are interested in joining a team, please complete the EOI form, or email UQ Water Polo stating your competition preference. Teams may be selected on ability or preference, and places fill up fast.

Both students and non-students are eligible to play, but you must sign up as a UQ Water Polo member.

UQ Water Polo members may be eligible to represent The University of Queensland at UniSport Nationals, providing they are currently enrolled as a UQ student.

A one-off fee of $162 for seniors and $127 for juniors – issued by Water Polo Queensland – is required to play in any Brisbane competition. This fee is due when your place on a team has been confirmed.

Other associated costs include a UQ Water Polo Membership, training passes, and applicable Water Polo uniform and equipment.

UQ Water Polo will cover team registration fees, where applicable.
