Shake your hips and feel the flow with our full of fun introductory Belly Dancing class!

Want to give it a try? All you need is cool, comfortable clothing that doesn’t restrict movement, and be sure to check-in with staff at the UQ Sport Fitness Centre reception desk. Elastic waist or wraparound skirts, sarongs, harem pants, hipsters, bike pants, and leggings are ideal, and the best part… no shoes are required!

CAPOEIRA

UQ Sport Fitness Centre

Build strength, agility and cardiovascular fitness in this free Capoeira Short Course class!

You'll get a taste of the Brazilian martial art that combines music, dance and acrobatics as you learn the basics of attack and defense. Dynamic, lively and fun, you'll play-fight with new chums in a safe environment, while working out both body and mind.

UQ Sport Tennis Centre

Try your hand at Cardio Tennis this semester - an hour-long fitness workout to music that can help women burn up to 500 calories, and as many as 800 calories for men!

FENCING

UQ Sport Fitness Centre

One of the few times in life swinging a sword is socially acceptable, take the opportunity to give Fencing a go during our Come & Try time.

Test your skill and precision as you attack, defend, lunge and retreat, attempting to hit your opponent on the target without being nicked yourself. During the full Short Course, your reflexes will improve and you'll find yourself more nimble on your feet, honing your strategic thinking and decision-making skills.

Dive in for a swim at the UQ Sport Aquatic Centre at St Lucia, Monday to Friday during Come & Try. Bring your togs and goggles for a dip between 10am and 2pm – just remember to sign-in with reception staff on arrival.

FREE REC SPORT: CAPTURE THE FLAG

Field 5

Enter the battleground and relive your youth in this free bout of Capture the Flag! Work as a team to deceive the opposition and take their most prized possession despite their best efforts, all while adventuring the labyrinth-like campus of UQ. Run like you're being chased by hunger-crazed bush turkeys and make some new buddies while you're at it in this free Rec Sport activity.

FREE TENNIS LESSONS

UQ Sport Tennis Centre

Always fancied finding your inner Hewitt or Stosur? The UQ Sport Tennis Centre is serving up free squad training this week and it’s perfect for the racquet challenged so be sure to pop by. There'll be expert coaches on hand to help you find your swing, as you hit, sprint and dash across the court. We'll even bring the racquets if you bring the enclosed shoes for some no strings attached fun.

UQ Sport Fitness Centre

Kick up a fuss and shake off holiday blues as you try out this Kick Boxing Short Course. Head to the Martial Arts Gym at the UQ Sport Fitness Centre to try your hand at attacking, defending, punching, and striking the opposition, perfecting your skills in various techniques. You'll learn how to form combinations, and even how to defend yourself against the attacks you practice. Find your power in a class that’ll leave you dripping in sweat and come dressed in your best exercise gear, signing-in at reception before stepping into the ring.

Bring that K-Pop attitude and we’ll blast the tunes in this dance course that will leave you busting a move like Twice, Blackpink and Momoland. LOCKING

UQ Sport Fitness Centre

Pop it and lock it better than Drake in this free beginners Locking dance class! Groove and move to funky music as you "lock" parts of your body into certain positions, before continuing to move to the beat.

With pauses, wrist rolls, bounces and points, you'll get down to funk (think James Brown), reppin' dance moves by Usher and Timberlake. In this class, your instructor will introduce you to the basic foundation moves and grooves, so grab your b-boys and b-girls to Come & Try this Short Course at the UQ Sport Fitness Centre!

Wear clothes you could pop in, and be sure to boogie by reception to sign-up before class.

OUTDOOR YOGA

Heal from the inside out with a breath of fresh air at Outdoor Yoga! Exhale daily stress and inhale health as you rest and regroup in this slow and steady flow. Once you give it a try on Monday 30 July at the UQ Synthetic Fields, you'll want to keep coming back every week, with Outdoor Yoga being offered every Monday morning from 7:45am throughout the semester with UQ Sport's free Rec Sport program.

UQ Sport Fitness Centre

This class is the perfect way to tone, firm and tighten all parts of the body. The workout consists of cardio and toning exercises to target your legs, arms and core. Tone will challenge seasoned participants as well as motivate beginners to reach their peak performance.
