Elite Athlete Program Manager

About this opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced and driven Elite Athlete Program Manager to join our Student Services team. In this key leadership role, you will oversee the development and delivery of the university’s sporting scholarship and elite athlete programs, ensuring our student-athletes receive the best support to balance their academic and athletic ambitions.

We are seeking someone who is passionate about sports and athlete development, with proven experience in high-performance environments. You will have a strategic mindset, strong leadership skills, and the ability to foster relationships with a range of stakeholders, both within the university and the broader sporting community.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive approach, be highly organised, and show a consistent drive to deliver positive outcomes for student-athletes. They will also possess a collaborative mindset and a dedication to creating positive experiences for athletes and colleagues alike.

In this role you will:
  • Lead the development and delivery of UQ’s elite athlete and scholarship programs.
  • Manage the support services provided to elite student-athletes, ensuring alignment with policy guidelines.
  • Advocate for student-athletes and support their academic and sporting ambitions.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, promoting the Elite Athlete Program to the wider community.
  • Oversee the wellbeing of student-athletes and manage funding initiatives in line with the budget.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop staff and external providers to ensure high standards in program delivery.
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in sport, education, psychology, or business-related areas.
  • Mental Health First Aid Certificate and First Aid & CPR certifications.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role within a high-performance sport environment.
  • Knowledge of University Sport funding programs and Elite Athlete Education Network (EAEN) principles.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience delivering workshops to athletes.
  • A passion for customer service excellence and continuous professional development.

Human Resources Adviser

Are you an experienced HR Officer ready for a new challenge?

In this role, you’ll provide expert HR support across various functions, aligning with our goals and promoting a positive workplace culture.

We’re looking for a proactive individual committed to continuous improvement and employee engagement. If you have experience in high-volume recruitment, learning and development, and supporting leaders in performance management, this role is for you. Experience in Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and rehabilitation processes is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

– Foster a positive workplace culture aligned with UQ Sport’s values
– Oversee recruitment, ensuring best practices
– Partner with leadership on career development and training
– Provide guidance on performance management and conflict resolution
– Investigate workplace complaints
– Plan team events and social activities
– Review and update HR policies for compliance

What you’ll need:

– Tertiary qualification in HR or relevant experience
– At least 3 years in a generalist HR role

Events Coordinator

About this opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced, organised and efficient Full Time Events Coordinator, that ensures that each event aligns with the client or organization’s goals, managing timelines, budgets, and resources while maintaining high-quality service standards throughout the planning and execution phases development.

In this role you will:
  • Develop and manage event plans, including the creation of schedules, checklists, and event timelines 
  • Manage event budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial efficiency throughout the planning process 
  • Oversight and operational delivery of events, functions and engagement activities 
  • Oversee event setup, operations, and breakdown, ensuring all aspects run smoothly, from registration to technical support 
  • Liaison with events staff and external providers to ensure that event delivery meets industry best practice standards and customer expectations. 
  • Developing and implementing initiatives to improve service delivery and increase participation 
  • Manage event staff, including assigning tasks and ensuring all personnel are clear on their roles and responsibilities during event delivery 
  • Identify potential risks and troubleshoot any issues that arise during event execution. 
  • Oversight of service delivery, venue presentation, and workplace health and safety. 
  • Collect and analyse feedback from attendees and stakeholders to assess event success and recommend improvements for future events 
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • A minimum of 12 months experience in a similar role 
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of the events industry  
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence 
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work well under pressure

Shift Supervisor - Tennis

About this opportunity

We’re looking for a Shift Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations at the UQ Sport Tennis Centre, ensuring exceptional customer service, seamless venue presentation, and effective staff management. This role is vital for maintaining a positive, organized, and efficient environment at the Tennis Centre.

We’re seeking someone with strong leadership skills, a passion for customer service, and the ability to work proactively within a team environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to fostering a positive work culture.

To succeed in this role, you will need to lead by example, engage and motivate your team, and take ownership of daily operations while ensuring health and safety standards are consistently upheld.

Roster for this position is as follows: 

Tues    13:45-21:15
Wed    13:45-21:15
Thurs    13:45-22:15
Fri       13:45-21:15
Sat       6:30-13:00

In this role you will:
  • Provide exceptional customer service, resolve complaints, and assist with bookings and enquiries.
  • Racquet Stringing services.
  • Manage venue operations, including setting up and packing equipment, maintaining a tidy environment, and ensuring a professional presentation
  • Lead staff in tasks such as scheduling, rostering, and providing training.
  • Ensure facility usage compliance, identify hazards, and manage incidents.
  • Assist with stock management and ensure adequate resourcing for events and daily operations.
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Blue Card certification.
  • At least 12 months’ experience in a retail or customer service environment.
  • Tennis racquet stringing experienced would be highly regarded
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to delegate tasks and engage a team.
  • Proven cash handling experience and familiarity with Point of Sale systems.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform manual handling tasks, including lifting up to 15kg.
  • A passion for continuous learning and improving customer experiences.

In this role you will:
  • Perform reactive maintenance tasks in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance activities, including cleaning and periodic inspections.
  • Provide technical advice on maintenance and equipment management.
  • Assist in event set-up and pack down for smooth logistics during events.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure facility maintenance needs are met.
To be successful in the role you will have:
  • Proven experience in a trade or maintenance team.
  • Familiarity with work order systems and reporting.
  • Ability to work autonomously within a small team.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
  • A Class C Driver’s License.

Deck Supervisor - Aquatics

 

About this Opportunity

This is a rewarding and fun opportunity for anyone dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service and passionate about supporting children and adults to improve their swimming skills.

In your other role as Deck Supervisor you will act as the liaison between the Learn to Swim Instructors, parents and swimmers ensuring quality control of the Learn to Swim programs.

About you

You will need to be engaging with the ability to inspire and energize others. You are a strong team player, and have a genuine passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

You will need to have availability to work on weekends, morning and evenings. 

To be considered for this role you will need: 
  • A minimum 12 months’ experience in the aquatics industry in a similar role  
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence  
  • Demonstrated personal initiative and ability to work autonomously 
  • Proven high level of both written and verbal communication skills 
  • Proficiency in PC applications (Microsoft Suite) 
  • AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety certificate or equivalent
  • AUSTSWIM Teacher of Infants (highly desirable) or second recognised AUSTSWIM or Swimming Australia qualification
  • Blue Card
  • First Aid and CPR certificate
