Working closely with our Marketing & Communications team, you’ll create engaging content across Instagram, TikTok, website and digital platforms, showcasing everything from major events such as the Great Court Race and flagship sporting tournaments to social sport competitions, student activities and club events.

In this role you will:

Love coaching tennis and developing players? Join UQ Sport as a Casual Tennis Coach and become part of a supportive team delivering exceptional coaching experiences at our vibrant St Lucia Tennis Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to coach across junior programs, Hot Shots classes, adult lessons and group coaching sessions, helping players build confidence, develop their skills and enjoy the game. The role offers ideally 15+ hours per week, with coaching opportunities available across morning and afternoon sessions from Monday to Saturday.

We’re looking for someone who can step in and provide effective, enjoyable coaching from day one. While playing experience is valued, success in this role comes from proven coaching experience, strong communication skills and the ability to engage players of all ages and abilities.

In this role you will:
  • Delivering engaging junior, adult and group tennis coaching sessions
  • Coaching players across different levels, including Tennis Australia Hot Shots colour ball stages
  • Assessing player ability and providing clear, practical instruction to support skill development
  • Creating a positive, inclusive and motivating environment for all participants
  • Building strong relationships with UQ Sport clients and supporting a high-quality tennis experience
About you:

You will bring genuine tennis coaching experience and the confidence to deliver structured, enjoyable and safe sessions for a range of participants.

You will also have:

  • Demonstrated experience coaching tennis, including junior and/or adult programs
  • Familiarity with Tennis Australia Hot Shots, including colour ball stages from blue to yellow
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt your coaching style to different players
  • A current First Aid and CPR certification
  • A valid Blue Card
  • A coaching qualification, which will be highly regarded
  • Experience delivering Cardio Tennis, which would be an advantage

Lifeguards

About this Opportunity

Join the team at UQ Sport and play a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable experience for our community.

We’re currently recruiting for two permanent Lifeguard positions within our Aquatics team: one full-time (35 hours per week) and one part-time (15 hours per week).

This is a fantastic opportunity to secure permanent employment in an industry where roles are often casual. Enjoy the stability of ongoing work, opportunities for professional development, and the chance to build a rewarding long-term career with one of Queensland’s leading university sporting organisations.

As a Lifeguard, you’ll be at the heart of our aquatic operations creating a safe, welcoming and high-quality experience for every visitor. Working on a fixed roster that includes one weekend day each week, with a combination of opening and closing shifts across weekdays.

You’ll play a hands-on role in pool safety, daily operations and customer experience.

In this role you will:
  • Supervise aquatic areas to ensure a safe, welcoming environment and compliance with all safety policies and procedures.

  • Monitor pool conditions, conduct routine water quality testing, and complete safety inspections to maintain the highest operational standards.

  • Carry out daily operational duties, including facility opening and closing, equipment set-up, routine maintenance, and venue preparation.

  • Providing first aid, emergency response, and rescue assistance when required

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by engaging with patrons, promoting water safety, and encouraging appropriate behaviour throughout the facility.

  • Maintain the cleanliness, presentation, and overall appearance of the aquatic centre to ensure an outstanding experience for all visitors 

About you: 
  • Demonstrated experience as a Pool Lifeguard or in a similar aquatic role

  • Current First Aid & CPR certification and a valid Blue Card

  • Ability to work within a consistent roster (including weekends and varied shifts)

  • Professional, reliable and take pride in delivering high-quality work

  • Strong awareness of water safety and the ability to respond effectively in emergencies

  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn, grow and develop within the role

Desirable: 

  • Pool Plant Operator Certificate

  • Around 1–2 years’ experience in a similar role

Shift Supervisors

About this Opportunity
  • Take the lead in a varied, hands-on Shift Supervisor role at UQ Sport

  • 2 Full-time Opportunities available | Permanent or 12‑month fixed term | salary from $67K p.a.

As a Shift Supervisor within our Fitness team, you’ll play a key leadership role in the day-to-day operations of one of UQ Sport’s busiest venues. You’ll be the go-to person on shift, supporting a team of casual staff, ensuring smooth operations, and delivering an exceptional experience for every customer who walks through the door.

Working across a rotating two-week roster (5:15am–12:45pm, then 12:30pm–8:30pm), you’ll thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment where no two days are the same. This is a hands-on role that combines people leadership, customer service, and operational responsibility in a dynamic fitness setting.

In this role you will:
  • Leading and motivating your team on shift to deliver a standout member experience.

  • Being the go-to escalation point, confidently handling enquiries, issues and peak periods.

  • Driving smooth day-to-day operations, from opening/closing through to venue. Presentation.

  • Creating a safe, welcoming and high-quality environment for all members and visitors.

  • Supporting team capability through on-the-job coaching, guidance and training.

About you: 
  • Proven experience in a customer service or retail environment (12+ months).

  • Confident leading and supporting small teams in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication skills with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership on shift.

  • Experience using POS systems and basic admin or booking systems.

  • Current First Aid and CPR certification + Current Blue Card or ability to obtain and maintain one (essential).

  • Fitness industry qualifications (desirable).

  • Officiating sporting fixtures in line with rules and regulations

Systems and Infrastructure Administrator

This is a highly autonomous role with real variety. You’ll work across infrastructure, cyber security and end-user support, solving real problems and continuously improving how technology supports staff and users.

In this role you will:
  • Own and manage day-to-day IT operations across cloud and on-prem environments
  • Deliver end-to-end technical support (Tier 1–3), resolving issues efficiently across the organisation
  • Administer and optimise Windows Server, Azure and Microsoft 365 environments
  • Support cyber security, compliance and risk mitigation initiatives
  • Identify and drive improvements to systems, processes and performance

Note: Occasional after-hours work (a few days per month) may be required, with time off in lieu or allowance provided.

About you: 
  • 3 years’ experience in a hands-on systems and/or infrastructure role
  • Strong capability across Windows Server, Microsoft 365 and Azure
  • Experience supporting users across varying technical levels

Shift Supervisor, Tennis

About this Opportunity

We’re on the lookout for a motivated and hands-on Shift Supervisor for Tennis to lead the operations at the UQ Sport Tennis Centre. This is a dynamic, customer-facing role where no two days are the same from opening the venue and preparing for a busy day ahead, to supporting customers, managing bookings, and keeping everything running smoothly. 

Working Monday to Friday (early start, early finish), you’ll play a key role in delivering a high-quality experience for our community while leading by example on the floor. 

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a mix of customer service, retail, event delivery, racquet servicing, and operational leadership, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-focused environment. 

In this role you will:
  • Lead the day-to-day morning operations, ensuring the venue is open, set up, and ready for a 7am start 

  • Deliver outstanding customer service, assisting with bookings, enquiries, and resolving issues  

  • Oversee retail activities, including sales, stock control, and contributing to product selection  

  • Provide racquet stringing services (or develop this skill on the job)  

  • Support and guide staff through rostering, on-the-job training, and day-to-day leadership  

  • Ensure the facility is clean, safe, well-presented, and operating efficiently at all times  

  • Manage equipment set-up and pack-down for daily use and larger bookings or events 

  •  
About you: 
  • First Aid and CPR certification 

  • Blue Card certification 

  • At least 12 months’ experience in a retail or customer service environment. 

  • Tennis racquet stringing experience would be highly regarded 

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to delegate tasks and engage a team 

  •   Familiarity with Point of Sale and customer management systems 

  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills 

  • Ability to perform manual handling tasks, including lifting up to 15kg 

  • A passion for continuous learning and improving customer experiences
