About this Opportunity

Due to an internal promotion, we’re looking for an energetic Venue Supervisor with experience managing memberships, that exhibits exceptional planning and time management skills and has the ability to stay organized in a fast paced fitness centre environment.

Reporting to the Operations Manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the centre operations. Working primarily at the reception and leading a team of customer service officers delivering outstanding service with a focus on customer retention.

In this role you will:

  • Champion exceptional customer service and lead, manage and develop a team of Customer Service Officers
  • Develop and implement initiatives to drive membership and growth and improve customer retention
  • Manage administrative processes related to POS systems, bookings, invoicing, account credits and default payments
  • Assisting with the delivery of venue projects and leading change management activities.

 To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role involving membership management
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service
  • Sales skills and ability to achieve targets

About this Opportunity

We’re looking for a top shelf Swimming Coach, up to 13 hours a week delivery, to join an exceptional Aquatics Team. Reporting to the Programs Manager – Aquatics, you will work closely with the Head Swimming Coach and other Coaches to deliver the coaching programs.

The Swim Squad Program at UQ Sport has enjoyed success with medal winning Paralympic Athletes, Para Athlete’s winning Bronze at Commonwealth Games, and most recently the University Varsity Squad Women’s placing first and Men’s placing second at UniSport National championships.

Off the back of these successes, we’re seeking an experienced coach who can take us to new heights, inspiring and energising our squad program swimmers. You will have demonstrated experience coaching various levels, ages and disciplines; with the ability to prepare squad swimmers for competition, focusing on improving strength, conditioning and refining technique.

In this role you will:

  • Develop and deliver high quality swimming programs
  • Ensure coaching delivery exceeds best practice industry standards and our customer expectations
  • Increase involvement in coaching programs

To be successful in the role you will have:

Duty Manager – Lifeguard

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

Be the go-to person on shift as the Duty Manager – Lifeguards at our Aquatic Centre. Reporting to the Team Leader – Lifeguard your role will involves running the show during times where other Duty Managers are not on shift – making sure everything runs smoothly, the place looks great, and people are swimming safely. Your focus on safety and quick response to emergencies will make a real impact. Join us in creating a secure and enjoyable space for our community.

This is a permanent part time opportunity for 25 hours + per week.

Current availability in roster is: 

  • Tuesday 4pm – 8pm
  • Wednesday 4pm – 8:30pm
  • Thursday 4pm – 8:30pm
  • Friday 12noon – 6:30pm
  • Saturday 12noon – 6:30pm

In this role you will:

  • Be 2IC to the Team Leader – Lifeguard helping train and mentor lifeguards in the team, managing scheduled breaks, and ensuring adherence to the supervision plan, fostering a high-performing and well-trained team.
  • Ensure staff understanding and completion of duties, supervising swimming activities, and managing incident responses to guarantee a safe and enjoyable experience for Aquatic Centre patrons.
  • Take charge as the chief fire warden during emergencies, following the lifeguard supervision plan to maintain constant surveillance of swimming pools and surroundings.
  • Execute operational procedures, from opening and closing the venue to maintaining equipment and monitoring water quality. Champion compliance with health and safety standards, conduct regular inspections, and uphold approved work practices while ensuring exceptional customer service and addressing complaints effectively.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, coupled with a demonstrated track record of maintaining composure, remaining calm, and acting responsibly in high-pressure emergency situations.
  • High work ethic, commitment to professional presentation and the ability to maintain an appropriate level of fitness throughout employment.
  • Previous experience as a lifeguard is highly regarded

Our Aquatic Centre is expanding its crew of lifeguards. We’re looking for energetic and safety conscious permanent part time lifeguard for approximately 10 hours per week (with ability to pick up extra shifts), to supervise our customers and ensure their safety at all times whilst using our Aquatic Centre.

In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for opening/closing of the site and ensuring the gym meets high standards for maintenance, safety and cleanliness
  • Ensure the highest level of customer service with all member interactions responding to member queries regarding equipment and facility usage, membership and general gym operations
  • Report all equipment and facility issues to ensure prompt repairs and service.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Cert III in Fitness
  • 6+ Months experience as a Gym Supervisor
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Be available for shifts Monday & Friday 5:15 – 10:15pm with the likelihood of more hours!

About this Opportunity

We’re looking for a Competitions Coordinator to join the Student Experience team at UQ Sport. In this role you will be responsible for coordinating a range of programs including Social Sport, Inter-College Sport and sport, cultural and community programs.

We are in search of an individual with a strong background in team sports culture, demonstrating expertise in orchestrating compelling social sport and inter-college programs. The successful candidate will possess adept management skills, handling teams proficiently and addressing challenges with professionalism and finesse.

In this role you will:

  • Oversee the implementation of social sport and inter-college programs across sports, culture, and community domains.
  • Lead and manage a team of casual staff, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with the Student Experience Manager in executing key student-centric initiatives.
  • Provide support to UQ representative teams by actively participating in Australian University Sport events.
  • Cultivate robust relationships with key stakeholders and explore avenues for enhanced service delivery.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Tertiary qualifications in sport, business, or recreation, or substantial experience in a related role.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Exceptional proficiency in crafting schedules for sporting events.
  • Leadership acumen to manage and lead teams effectively.
  • A proactive approach to conflict resolution and the ability to navigate challenging situations.

UQ Sport is seeking applications from an enthusiastic Customer Service Officer to work within our Tennis Centre based at the University of Queensland.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who is highly motivated, outgoing and energetic with exellent communicaiton skills.

In this role you will:

  • Responsible for open and close, plus presentation and cleaning of the venue and facilities
  • Respond to customer queries & providing information about UQ Sport products and services
  • Point of sale duties for the Pro Shop including cash handling
  • Re-string and repair tennis and squash racquets
  • Assisting with the setup for events/functions and basic administration duties.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • First Aid certificate
  • CPR certificate
  • Blue Card
  • Previous experience in Customer Service environment desirable
  • Previous work in a tennis center – highly desirable
  • Available for shifts Tuesday – Friday (shift finish times vary between 2pm – 9:15/10:15pm) and Saturday 6:30am – 2pm.

UQ Sport is seeking energetic and motivated Sport Officials (Referees & Umpires) and Sport Convenors to join our fun team. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone passionate about sport and customer service.

Reporting to the Competitions Coordinator, our Sports Officials and Convenors are responsible for the safe delivery of sporting fixtures in accordance with the rules and regulations of each individual sport.

We are currently seeking candidates to officiate and convene the following sports:

  • Basketball
  • Dodgeball
  • Netball
  • Outdoor Soccer

As a Sports Official you will:

  • have previous experience in a similar role umpiring or refereeing your chosen sport
  • have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of sport specific rules
  • be personable and resilient, with excellent communications skills.

Having a sport specific officiating qualification will put you ahead of the rest and make you eligible for a higher pay rate.
