Retail Sales Assistant - UQ Shop

About this opportunity

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and customer-oriented Retail Assistant to work at the UQ Shop based at the UQ St Lucia campus on a casual basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work weekday shifts managing the shop and serving and assisting customers in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Restock products and make sure the shop is neat and well presented
  • Some stocktake duties as required.

To be successful in this role you will:

Warehouse Assistant

About this opportunity
We are currently seeking a dynamic and proactive Warehouse Assistant to join our Retail Department. Offering 10 hours per week. As the Warehouse Assistant, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing inventory, ensuring the quality of goods, and maintaining a high level of customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Thoroughly inspect incoming goods to verify accuracy in products and quantities.
  • Supporting WHS projects and contributing to continuous system improvements.
  • Ensuring the quality of delivered products meets UQ Sport standards.
  • Distribute products to various UQ Sport food and beverage outlets. Manual Handling requirements apply between 0.5 – 20kgs.
  • Fostering a positive reputation for UQ Sport in the wider community.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Hold a valid Class C driver’s license.
  • Be physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks with adherence to safe work practices

WHS Administrator

About this opportunity

We are currently seeking  proactive and detail-driven WHS Administrator to join our team and support the development and delivery of safe practices across our varied facilities and operations. This position is for a 1 year fixed term contract working 20 hours per week. 

This part-time role is ideal for someone looking to gain a hands-on experience in supporting WHS initiatives within the sporting organisation, while enjoying the flexibility and work-life balance. Working closely with the Safety and Risk Advisor, this role will help in ensuring compliance, risk reduction, and promoting a culture of safety across sporting operations and events. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurate WHS data entry and system maintenance using our new safety platform. 
  • Supporting WHS projects and contributing to continuous system improvements. 
  • Assisting with WHS investigations and gathering information for incident reviews. 
  • Reviewing and updating risk assessments and incident report documentation. 
  • Supporting the identification and implementation of hazard control measures. 
  • Participating in internal WHS audits and benchmarking activities. 
  • Assisting in the review and update of WHS policies and procedures.

Personal Trainers

About this opportunity

We’re looking for pumped up Fitness Coaches to take on 1-on-1 PT and possibility for multi-hire opportunities to Strength and Conditioning classes or Group Fitness Classes (subject of meeting qualification requirements). You will be responsible for designing and delivering PT session that accommodate different levels of fitness for our clients.

To be successful, you will need:
  • Certificate IV in fitness or equivalent
  • First aid and CPR certification
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in similar position
  • Demonstrated ability to create an engaging and positive environment with clients and customers
  • ASCA Level 1 (Desirable but not essential)

Strength & Conditioning Coach

About this opportunity

We’re looking for energetic Strength and Conditioning Coaches that will help our clients improve their overall fitness, while also helping clients improve or develop a particular skill or improve sports performance.

You will have exceptional communication skills with the ability to understand the unique needs of individual clients. You will need to be enthusiastic about Strength and Conditioning with the ability to “light the fire under athletes” to help push them beyond their current capabilities. You must be able to think on your feet and adjust your sessions when needed.

In this role, you will:
  • Coordinate and deliver S&C Sessions for clients of all ages and skill levels
  • Construct strength, power and endurance based training schedules, both gym and field based, with components of testing as required
To be successful, you will need:
  • Demonstrated experience working with various sporting disciplines, in performance/gym training environments
  • Requires a current Blue Card, First Aid and CPR and a minimum ASCA Level 1 qualification.
  • Excellent knowledge of strength, power, and endurance-based training, including gym and field-based programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse sport-specific strength and conditioning requirements for athletes and teams.
  • Proficiency in PC applications and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-initiative and the ability to work autonomously while maintaining a commitment to customer service excellence.

To increase your hours, opportunities are available to take on Group Training Classes (if you also hold a Cert IV in Fitness).

We’re looking for a personable and collaborative Elite Athlete Program Officer, to join our professional and passionate team in part-time capacity (21 hours/week). This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to develop their career in supporting Student Athletes.

In this role you will be supporting the Elite Athlete Program Advisor in delivering the sporting scholarship, elite athlete program, and associated student-athlete support services for UQ through UQ Sport. You will be a superstar in building engaging relationship, communication, and time-management.

In this role, you will:
  • Support the Elite Athlete and Sporting Scholarship program
  • Review Competition Subsidy applications in line with policy guidelines
  • Assist with reviewing elite athlete status request in line with policy guidelines
  • Support and assist eligible athletes to represent UQ at inter-varsity events
  • Contribute to communication and brand visibility for the Elite Athlete and Scholarship program
To be successful, you will need:
  • Tertiary qualifications in sports admin/management/education/psychology or related
  • Prior experience in a similar position with demonstrated knowledge of university sport and funding programs and elite athlete education network guiding principles.
  • First aid and CPR Certification
  • Mental Health First Aid Certification

Shift Supervisor - Tennis

About this opportunity

We’re looking for a Shift Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations at the UQ Sport Tennis Centre on Monday to Friday morning shift roster. This role will be responsible to ensure exceptional customer service, seamless venue presentation, and effective staff management. As well as, maintaining a positive, organised, and efficient environment at the Tennis Centre.

We’re seeking someone with strong leadership skills, a passion for customer service, and the ability to work proactively within a team environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to fostering a positive work culture.

To succeed in this role, you will need to lead by example, engage and motivate your team, and take ownership of daily operations while ensuring health and safety standards are consistently upheld.

In this role, you will:
  • Provide exceptional customer service, resolve complaints, and assist with bookings and enquiries.
  • Racquet Stringing services.
  • Manage venue operations, including setting up and packing equipment, maintaining a tidy environment, and ensuring a professional presentation
  • Lead staff in tasks such as scheduling, rostering, and providing training.
  • Ensure facility usage compliance, identify hazards, and manage incidents.
  • Assist with stock management and ensure adequate resourcing for events and daily operations.
To be successful, you will need:
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Blue Card certification.
  • At least 12 months’ experience in a retail or customer service environment.
  • Tennis racquet stringing experienced would be highly regarded
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to delegate tasks and engage a team.
  • Proven cash handling experience and familiarity with Point of Sale systems.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform manual handling tasks, including lifting up to 15kg.
  • A passion for continuous learning and improving customer experiences.
