About Us

For more than a century, UQ Sport has led sport and recreation at The University of Queensland. We’re a not-for-profit organisation committed to promoting sport, physical recreation and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle within UQ.

From our beginnings in 1911 – when we were known as ‘The University of Queensland Sports and Physical Recreation Association’ – to today, operating one of the state’s largest multi-sport complexes, our purpose has remained the same: to deliver exceptional sporting opportunities for the UQ Community.

What We Do

We’re home to some of Queensland’s finest sporting and recreation facilities.

Every week, we welcome thousands of people to our venues and facilities across our St Lucia and Gatton campuses. Our Membership base spans more than 4,000 customers, with a further 7,000 people actively involved across UQ’s 35+ affiliated sporting clubs.

At St Lucia, you’ll find Athletics, Aquatic, Tennis and Fitness Centres, as well as a selection of grass and synthetic playing fields, indoor and outdoor courts, function spaces and our BrewPoint café locations.

Our Gatton campus features a Fitness and Aquatic Centre, with playing fields, tennis, basketball, netball, and squash facilities also available.

UQ Sport also supports more than 200 elite-level student-athletes – including Sporting Scholarship recipients – helping them balance the demands of sport and study.
