With a number of options catering to all ages and abilities, our friendly and supportive coaches will guide your child so they learn the fundamentals and develop their tennis technique at their own pace!
Program Details
4 – 5 years old
Stage: Blue
Level: Entry
Blues Stage is aimed at participants aged 4-5 years with little or no tennis experience, who want to learn and have fun. In Blue Stage programs, there is a strong focus on motor skills and hand-eye-coordination, with plenty of time spent teaching the basic tennis strokes and technique kids will use for years to come.
All new Blue Stage players also receive a free tennis racquet to help get them started! Simply pick it up from the Tennis Pro Shop at your first lesson.

5 – 7 years old
Stage: Red 1
Level: Entry
A continuation of the Blue Stage program, Red Ball 1 is aimed at kids aged 5-7 years who are new to the sport. Red Ball 1 programs emphasise motor skills and hand-eye-coordination, as well tennis fundamentals – including stroke play and footwork.
All new Red Ball 1 players also receive a free tennis racquet to help get them started! Simply pick it up from the Tennis Pro Shop at your first lesson.
6 – 8 years old
Stage: Red 2
Level: Intermediate
Red Ball 2 is designed for players aged 6-8 years who want to work on refining their tennis skills with a strong focus on learning through game play (rallying).
Technique, shot selection and serving is a focus in Red Ball 2 to ensure kids are ready to be a part of Hot Shots Red fixtures, if they so choose. UQ Sport highly recommends Hot Shots participation for any players looking to develop their tennis careers both personally or professionally.
All new Red Ball 2 players also receive a free tennis racquet to help get them started! Simply pick it up from the Tennis Pro Shop at your first lesson.
Stage: Red Squad (invite only)
Level: Intermediate
Red squad is designed for players aged 5-8 who have developed their rallying skills. There will be a strong focus on learning through play, where the kids will learn technique through games and match play.
The lesson will consist of 45 minutes of coaching followed by 45 minutes of supervised match play.
8 – 10 years old
Stage: Orange 1
Level: Entry
This level is the entry point for children aged 8-10 who are taking up tennis for the first time or have limited experience. Our professional coaches will introduce all the tennis basics, with classes centred on developing stroke technique and hand-eye-coordination.
Stage: Orange 2
Level: Intermediate
Orange Ball 2 is designed for participants ages 8-10 years who want to refine the fundamental tennis skills they’ve learned in earlier levels. This class focuses on ground strokes, volleying, serves, and returns. There’s also a strong emphasis on learning through game play (rallying).
Participation in Orange Ball 2 ensures kids will be prepared to take part in Hot Shots Orange fixtures, if they so choose. Hot Shots is ideal for any players looking to take the next step in their tennis careers.
Stage: Orange Performance (invite only)
Level: Squad
Our Orange Performance Squad is for players ages 8-10 years who are ready to play at an advanced level. Game play strategies, court movement and structured play are the program’s key focus points. Your child will also spend time developing different spins, grips and tactics in order for play in Hot Shots Orange fixtures, as well as regular tournaments, local and state events.
The Orange Performance Squad is available for Term programs only (10 Weeks). Squad members must also attend a minimum of two classes per week.
10 – 12 years old
Stage: Green 1
Level: Entry
Green Ball 1 is designed for players aged 10-12 with limited tennis experience, looking to learn the fundamentals and further develop basic skills of the game. Players learn on a full size court with modified tennis balls. Learning through play is a strong focus in this program and kids will learn a basic understanding of grips, spins and game play tactics.
Stage: Green 2
Level: Intermediate
Your child has the basics down – now it’s time take things to a new level! Green Ball 2, suitable for kids aged 10-12 years, introduces more advanced techniques and tactics. Game play strategies, court movement, attacking shots, and positioning tactics are key focus points of this program. This level with prepare your child for Hot Shots Green fixtures, as well as tournaments and state-level events.
Stage: Green Performance (invite only)
Level: Squad
If your child is competing at a high level in regional, national and/or international tournaments, then our Green Performance Squad is Squad is just for them!
Suitable for kids aged 10-12 years, this Squad will perfect their technique, in addition to developing routines, tactical match play skills and patterns of play.
The Green Performance Squad is available for Term programs only (10 Weeks). Squad members must also attend a minimum of two classes per week.
11+ years old
Stage: Teen 1
Level: Beginner
Teen 1 is for tennis players with limited tennis experience who are transitioning from Hot Shots Program. There is a strong focus on developing technique and stroke production. Players learn on a full size court and are strongly recommended to be involved in Hotshot fixtures.
Stage: Teen 2
Level: Intermediate
Teen 2 is for squad players who are looking at refining their technique. In this program, participants will focus on developing their match play ability with sessions focusing on technique and tactic strategy. Players will also be encouraged to get involved in Super League, school tennis and Junior Development series tournaments.
Stage: Junior Development (invite only)
Level: Squad
Our Junior Development Squad is tailor-made for advanced players over the age of 11 who are looking to compete at an elite-level in regional, national and international tournaments. Technique training is a large focus of sessions, in addition to developing routines, tactical match play skills, and patterns of play.
The Junior Development Squad is available for Term programs only (10 Weeks). Squad members must also attend a minimum of two classes per week.

Red, Orange, Green & Teen Levels
Our Holiday Program is a ‘learn through play’ based program, combining both fun and tennis specific activities for all levels. These include ball and motor skill development, footwork drills and games and point/match play.
