UQ Sport – Venue Closures & Program Cancellations

(UPDATED: 4pm, Friday 27 March 2020)

UQ Sport is adhering to the Australian Government-imposed restrictions on social gatherings and physical distancing, in response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation.

From Thursday, 26 March 2020, all UQ Sport venues – including fields, courts, function spaces, BrewPoint Cafés, and the UQ Shop (online shopping still available) – will be closed indefinitely. Additionally, all UQ Sport programs are cancelled until further notice.

Phones and email inboxes at UQ Sport venues will not be monitored during this period. All enquiries should be directed to enquiries@uqsport.com.au

During these uncertain times, we are receiving a significant number of enquiries from our customers and members, which we are unable to promptly reply to. We hope the details below will answer many of your questions, while you are waiting for a response. We appreciate your patience.

COVID-19 (coronavirus) – UQ Sport Suspension, Cancellation & Refund Update

(UPDATED: 3pm, Wednesday 1 April 2020)

UQ Sport staff are working as quickly as possible to determine a suitable outcome for all our members and customers given the unique circumstances of having to close venues and cancel programs at such short notice.

We have received an overwhelming number of email and phone enquiries and have been doing our best with limited resources to respond in a timely manner. We appreciate your patience at this time.

In some situations, we are still determining the best course of action given the circumstances. The following measures are currently in place:

Memberships

As of Monday, 23 March, all UQ Sport Memberships (Direct Debit, 12 Month & 4 Month) have been suspended indefinitely. Suspensions have been manually processed by UQ Sport staff. Memberships will remain suspended until such time as we are able to reopen our venues and resume normal operations. At this time, further details about reactivating Memberships – including credits and new expiry information – will be communicated to customers via email, with details also published on this page.

Passes

As of Monday, 23 March, all UQ Sport Passes have been suspended indefinitely. Upon the resumption of our normal operations, customers will be contacted via email about reactivating their Pass, with details also published on this page. The expiry of all Passes will be extended, and further details will be communicated upon reactivation.

Refunds, Cancellations & Credits – Memberships & Passes

We appreciate that some customers may be unable to utilise their Membership or Pass when we resume our normal operations, or would prefer to receive a refund, or cancel their Membership (applies to Direct Debit Memberships only). Given the present circumstances, UQ Sport will grant Membership and Pass pro-rata refunds to customers who request one, and approve requests to cancel Direct Debit Memberships.

We are currently receiving a large amount of refund and cancellation requests, and due to limited staff resources, it will take some for the UQ Sport team to manually process all requests. We appreciate your patience at this time. Priority will be given to refunding Memberships paid upfront (12 & 4 Month Memberships) given the amount owing to customers is larger than a fortnightly Direct Debit payment. If you are a Direct Debit Member wanting to cancel, please consider deferring your cancellation request given the delay you may face in receiving your refund.

Please note, customer refunds and cancellations need to be processed manually by the UQ Sport team, and due to limited staff resources, it will take some time for our team to process cancellations and refunds due to the number of requests being received.

Please complete our Membership Refund Request Form (12 or 4 Month Memberships only) or Pass Refund Request Form to complete this process.

Customers requesting to cancel their Direct Debit Membership should complete our Cancellation Request Form.

At this stage, we are still determining how to process refunds for customers who are currently located outside of Australia. We will provide an update on this matter in due course.

Learn-to-Swim Enrolments

All Kids and Adult Learn-to-Swim program enrolments have been cancelled. The UQ Sport Swim School team is contacting all customers direct to cancel enrolments, and issue pro-rata credits to each customer’s account. Should you choose to re-enrol in our Learn-to-Swim program when our operations resume as normal, this credit will be applied to your first Direct Debit payment.

Customers are also entitled to a pro-rata refund. Please complete the Learn-to-Swim Refund Request Form if you would like to apply for a refund.

Program Enrolments

All Tennis and Athletics Programs (Kids & Adult), including our Autumn School Holiday programs, have been cancelled. The UQ Sport team is contacting customers direct to process full or pro-rata refunds.

Short Courses

All Semester 1 Short Courses – except for the First Aid & CPR, and ECG Analysis & Interpretation (now online) Short Courses – have been cancelled. The UQ Sport team is contacting affected customers direct to process full or pro-rata refunds. Participants enrolled in the postponed First Aid & CPR, and ECG Analysis & Interpretation Short Courses will be contacted direct regarding the status of these classes.

UQ Wellness Passport

UQ Sport is a participant of the UQ Fitness Passport program, however, we do not administer the program. Please contact UQ Wellness to discuss the status of your Membership.

12-Month Locker Subscriptions

Customers with a 12-Month Locker Subscription at either the UQ Sport Fitness or Aquatic Centre are entitled to a full refund. Customers will be contacted direct and refunds issued in due course. If there are any contents in your locker that you require access to, please email enquiries@uqsport.com.au making reference to ‘UQ Sport Locker’ in the Subject line of your email.
