5-a-Side Football Tournament

The world’s most popular sport is returning to The University of Queensland. UQ Sport in collaboration with UQ Life brings you the annual 5-a-Side Football Tournament!

Get your squad together to compete in 5-a-Side Football matches for your chance to win cash prizes. Play in front of a grandstand full of fans and absorb the atmosphere with pre and halftime entertainment. Expect music, food trucks, adrenaline-pumping matches, and heaps more!

Event Details

  • Date: Friday 29 August 
  • Time: Site opens at 3pm, before first matches at 4pm. Estimated finish 9:30pm. 
  • Location: Playing Field 7 (UQ Sport Athletics Centre), UQ St Lucia campus
  • Prizemoney: 1st ($500), 2nd ($300), 3rd ($200) in each category 
  • Match Length: Each match is 15 minutes long
  • Tournament rules: Can be found here

Registration Details

  • Participants must be current UQ students to be eligible to play
  • Registration is completely FREE, and will open 9am Tuesday 29 July, and close 9am Friday 22 August
  • Men’s and Women’s categories available. Participants can register as a team, or as an individual
  • Teams to have a minimum of 5 players, and a maximum of 10 players
  • Individual entrants will be assigned to a team for the competition
