Kids Sports

There’s no questioning the psychological and social benefits of sports for kids. Sprinting, jumping, kicking and throwing in a team environment will teach your little legend vital life skills. They’ll learn discipline, motivation, commitment, leadership, and cooperation, as well as the importance of being respectful during victory and defeat.

UQ Sport currently offers the following kids programs:

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my child has a medical condition or needs to take medication during a program?

If your child has any medical conditions – such as asthma, anaphylaxis or epilepsy, or requires any medication to be administered during a program by a UQ Sport staff member – you must ensure a Permission to Administer Medication Form has been completed and submitted. The child’s parent and/or carer must also lodge an Action Plan (a written document stating all required medical actions) to the Program Coordinator prior to commencement of the program.

What happens if my child is injured?

All staff are First Aid-trained and will initially attend to the injury. If serious, UQ security will be contacted who will immediately send an Advanced Trained Officer, or if necessary, call an ambulance. In all injury cases, parents will be notified ASAP and an incident report will need to be completed.

What policies does UQ Sport have?

UQ Sport has a number of policies and procedures in place to ensure your child can participate in a fun and safe environment that fosters growth and learning. These policies include, but are not limited to, sun safety, child protection, programming, staff codes of conduct, First Aid, administration of medication, grievances, emergencies, arrival and departure, and behaviour management.

Does UQ Sport have insurance?

Yes! UQ Sport is insured for public liability and professional indemnity.

What is the refund/cancellation policy?

After enrolment, cancellations or Course transfers will only be considered in extenuating circumstances and refunds will not be given for change of mind. Individual situations will be considered by UQ Sport with the provision of necessary documentation. If a refund is granted, it will be the pro rata balance minus a 10% administration fee.

What happens if I’m running late dropping off my child to a program?

You must first report to the appropriate meeting point and sign your child into the activity. You must then escort your child to the activity location.

What happens if I’m running late to pick up my child from a program?

Please contact UQ Sport as soon as possible. There are fees for late pick up of $15 per child for every 15 minutes. This fee is billed in 15 minute increments and payable at the time of collecting the child.

Junior tennis fixtures have one instructor per class.

Can I enrol my child in a program after the start date?

Enrolments for Term programs can be taken at any time during the Term if there is space available. Holiday programs can be booked on a week-by-week basis and participants must enrol and attend for the full duration of the program.

Where do I meet at the beginning of the program?

All children must sign in at the appropriate venue before taking part in any activities. Please contact your Program Coordinator to confirm location.

Can parents/carers stay and watch children during their lesson?

Parents are welcome to stay and watch during Athletics and Tennis coaching, however, for the safety of the children, we ask that parents identify themselves to their child’s coach at the start of the lesson.

During the UQ Sport Kids Club Holiday program, we allow parents/carers to stay for the first 15 minutes of the program to ensure their child has settled in after arrival.

What happens if my child misses a lesson?

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a refund if your child cannot attend a particular session. If you know in advance that your child is unable to attend on a particular day, please get in touch with us.

When can my child progress to the next level?

Coaches regularly evaluate your child’s skills and provide recommendations on when your child is ready to move up to the next level. Most importantly, all staff are committed to making sure every child is getting the most out of the program.

Can my child practise outside of their program time at one of the UQ Sport venues?

Yes! You are welcome to utilise our facilities by paying a casual entry fee.
