Adult Learn-to-Swim

We offer adult swimming lessons to cater for all skill levels – whether you want to learn to swim or need some help with stroke correction. Our qualified instructors can tailor each class to your individual requirements.

Our Adult Learn to Swim program runs on a 48 week Direct Debit program, allowing you to advance and progress at your own pace. Lessons run for 30 – 45 minutes and have a maximum of six students per lesson. Depending on your level, lessons are held in the indoor heated program pool or outdoor heated 25 metre pool.

Private one-on-one lessons are also available. Contact us for session pricing and availability.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are a great option for swimmers who are interested in extra attention and accelerated coaching. Our dedicated team of coaches and instructors can cater to any specific skill or stroke swimmers wish to improve upon.

You can book a private lesson for yourself, or private lessons can be shared between two swimmers.

Payment is required at the time of booking and you must commit to a block of five private lessons. Maximum of two people per lesson.

What are the options?

Beginner

The Beginner Swim Program is designed for adults with little or no water experience.

This program is for you if:

  • you are not comfortable putting your face in the water for a period of time
  • you have had limited or no swimming tuition/experience previously.

 

In this program you will learn:

  • confidence in the water
  • correct kicking technique
  • streamlining and floating
  • basic freestyle with breathing to the side.
Intermediate

The Intermediate Group Program is designed for adults with an understanding of the basic skills and who have confidence in the water but wish to further develop these skills.

This program is for you if:

  • you are confident and comfortable in water out of your depth
  • you are able to swim up to 25 metres
  • you have the concept of freestyle, but have trouble breathing.

 

In this program you will learn:

  • proficient and correct freestyle technique
  • proficient and correct backstroke skills.
Stroke Correction Program

The Stroke Correction Program caters for adult swimmers who do not feel they are ready for a squad session.

It is aimed at extending the swimmer, to provide strength and endurance in freestyle, and work on the finer technique points of swimming.

This program is for you if:

  • you can swim 50 metres freestyle efficiently
  • you can swim 25 metres backstroke efficiently.

Kick off 2024 with an eight-week Learn-to-Swim program at UQ Sport. Complete the program and get your money back!*

In this program you will learn:

  • confidence in the water
  • correct kicking technique
  • streamlining and floating
  • basic freestyle with breathing to the side.
