More details on these changes are below, including what we need you to do to before, during and after your exercise session to help us keep everyone safe and healthy.

UQ Sport’s COVIDSafe plan is modelled on the Queensland Government’s Roadmap to easing restrictions, as well as guidelines developed by national and state sport and recreation governing bodies. Our plan may be amended as required to reflect any changes in direction and advice. It is vital you regularly visit this page to ensure you remain up-to-date with the latest COVIDSafe information, and how it relates to using our venues and facilities at this time.

General Guidelines

Please note:

  • Limited water refill stations will be open across UQ Sport venues, so please ensure your water bottles are full for your session.
  • All seating areas at UQ Sport venues are closed.
  • Spectators are not permitted to attend activities at UQ Sport venues at this time.
  • Our staff have undergone relevant training in safety and hygiene practises as recommended by health bodies and industry guidelines.
  • UQ Sport venues are only accepting EFTPOS payments.

  • Prior to visiting a UQ Sport venue or participating in a program, update your contact details in case we need to get in touch. You can do this by logging-in or creating a My Account profile. You will also need a UQ Sport account to book-in for some sessions.
  • however we are still encouraging all our visitors to arrive dressed and ready for your session, and leave immediately after it is completed wherever possible.
  • Individual toilets will be open, however, they should not to be used as changing rooms before or after your session.
  • Adopt the Australian Institute of Sport’s (AIS) ‘Get in, train and get out’ Only arrive for your session close to the start time and leave immediately after.
  • Bring your own drink bottle and towel.
  • Maintain a 1.5m physical distance from others at all times.
  • Clean all equipment after use with the sanitary products provided.
  • Adhere to all venue and directional signage.

St Lucia Activity & Venue-specific Guidelines

Before Your Session

  • Ensure your contact details are up-to-date by logging-in or creating a My Account profile. If you have difficulty creating an account, please contact UQ Sport staff.
  • Customers with an active Membership (Gold or Gym/Cardio), or Casual Gym Entry Pass, may access the Weights and Cardio Gym at any time during Fitness Centre opening hours. Bookings are not required, and there are no time limits imposed on training sessions.
  • Before your session, you are required to check-in at the Fitness Centre reception desk.
  • Adopt the Australian Institute of Sport’s (AIS) ‘Get in, train and get out’ recommendation, and arrive dressed and ready to train, and leave immediately after your session.
  • Changing rooms are closed, including shower facilities. Individual toilets will be open, however, they are not to be used as a changing facility.
  • Bring your own drink bottle and towel.
  • Maintain 1.5m physical distancing requirements, and follow the directional signage at all times.

During & After Your Session

  • Use hand sanitiser (available at the reception desk) prior to entering and exiting the gym.
  • Maintain a 1.5m physical distance from others at all times.
  • Adhere to all venue and directional signage.
  • Use a towel at all times and clean equipment after use with the sanitary products provided.
  • UQ Sport staff will maintain a 1.5 distance at all times and may deliver instructions verbally.
  • When exiting the Fitness Centre, you must check-out by visiting the Fitness Centre reception desk.

Before Your Session

  • Ensure your contact details are up-to-date by logging-in or creating a My Account profile. If you have difficulty creating an account, please contact UQ Sport staff.
  • Members (Gold) and non-Members may book-in for Group Fitness classes, with capacity capped at 43 participants per class.
  • If you have an active Gold Membership, you may book-in for a Group Fitness class by logging-in via My Account. Once logged in, click on the ‘Group Fitness’ tab and select your preferred class and session time to check-in. On arrival, see UQ Sport staff at the reception desk and present the entry ticket on your smartphone. Upon check-in, you will receive a COVIDSafe briefing and have your attendance recorded. Please note, online bookings will open 12 hours before the scheduled session, and customers are not permitted to book back-to-back sessions, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to train.
  • If you are a non-Member, you may participate by purchasing a Casual Group Fitness Pass (EFTPOS-only) by calling or visiting the UQ Sport Fitness Centre during opening hours. Pass holders will only be permitted to participate if there is space available. To avoid disappointment, we recommend calling ahead of your preferred session time to ask if there is likely to be spaces available.

During & After Your Session

  • Use hand sanitiser (available at reception desk) before and after your Group Fitness class.
  • Maintain a 1.5m physical distance from others at all times.
  • Adhere to all venue and directional signage.
  • Follow the directions of your UQ Sport Group Fitness Instructor who will allocate you a designated workout area.
  • UQ Sport Group Fitness Instructors will maintain a 1.5 distance at all times and deliver instructions verbally.
  • You will be required to make adjustments to equipment, including changing weights, during your session.
  • Leave all workout equipment at your workout station. UQ Sport staff will clean and sanitise the equipment after your class.
  • Participants will be required to exit in a staggered fashion to maintain 1.5m physical distancing. Please follow the directions of your UQ Sport Group Fitness Instructor.

Before Your Session

  • One-on-one or Group Personal Training sessions will be held in the Personal Training Studio (maxim capacity: 15 people) in the Fitness Centre. There are no time limits imposed on training sessions.
  • Personal Training sessions can be booked by calling or visiting the UQ Sport Fitness Centre during opening hours. Payment (EFTPOS-only) will be taken at the time of your booking. To avoid disappointment, we recommend calling ahead to secure a session at your preferred time.
  • Adopt the Australian Institute of Sport’s (AIS) ‘Get in, train and get out’ recommendation, and arrive dressed and ready for your session.
  • Changing rooms are closed, including shower facilities. Individual toilets will be open in selected areas across the Fitness Centre, however, they are not to be used as a changing facility.
  • Please check-in with UQ Sport staff at the Fitness Centre reception desk, where you will receive a COVIDSafe briefing and have your attendance recorded.

Please see UQ Sport for directions on where you can store your equipment.
  • Only essential swimming equipment – including goggles, kickboards, flippers, and pool buoys – will be permitted inside the Aquatic Centre.
  • Bring your own drink bottle.
  • From Monday 13 July, the Pro Shop will be open for the sale of selected equipment, such as googles, caps, fins, and swimwear. Non-perishable food and drink items, such as water, isotonic drinks, confectionary, and ice creams, can also be purchased at the reception desk (EFTPOS-only). Please note, the BrewPoint Café will remain closed until further notice, and hot beverages and perishable foods are not available.
  • Lockers access will not be available.
  • Only arrive for your session close to the start time to avoid unnecessary queuing.
  • When you arrive, check-in with UQ Sport staff at the reception desk, where you will receive a COVIDSafe briefing and have your attendance recorded.

  • Your belongings can be placed in the designated space located near your allocated lane. Please collect your belongings before leaving.
  • Session-ending reminders, and instructions of how to exit the Aquatic Centre, will be delivered by the lifeguard.
  • Participants will be required to exit in a staggered fashion to maintain 1.5m physical distancing. Exit the Aquatic Centre, as directed, via the side gate that leads to the P10 parking bay.

Before Your Session

  • All participants must reactivate their Academy Swim Squad Membership, and ensure their contact details are up-to-date, by logging-in or creating a My Account Please note, guardians responsible for junior swimmers will be required to complete this step on the participant’s behalf.   • On arrival at the Aquatic Centre, the participant must present their Membership card to be scanned. Participants under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a guardian in order to check-in. Guardians of children under 15 are permitted to wait for their child to complete their session in a designated area, as directed by UQ Sport staff.

  • Tennis Court bookings can be made for both singles and doubles-play. The minimum booking length is 60-minutes, and customers may book for longer than 60-minutes.
  • The player responsible for booking a court must login or create a My Account profile prior to booking a court. If you have difficulty creating an account, please contact UQ Sport staff.
  • Court bookings can made online via the My Account platform, and payment (EFTPOS-only) will be taken at the time of the booking. Please note, Gold Members are unable to book a complimentary court at this time.
  • Adopt the Australian Institute of Sport’s (AIS) ‘Get in, train and get out’ recommendation, and arrive dressed and ready for your session.
  • Changing rooms are closed, including shower facilities. Individual toilets will be open, however, they are not to be used as a changing facility.
  • All players must check-in with UQ Sport staff at the Tennis Centre Pro Shop. Playing partners will be required to manually sign-in, and provide their contact details.
  • Only arrive for your session close to the start time to avoid unnecessary queuing.
  • Bring your own drink bottle.
  • From Monday 13 July, the Tennis Centre Pro Shop will be open for the sale of selected retail items, such as balls, racquets, grip tapes, and apparel. Non-perishable food and drink items, including water, isotonic drinks and confectionary, can also be purchased at the reception desk (EFTPOS-only). Our restring service is also available. Please note, racquet hire is currently unavailable.
  • Maintain 1.5m physical distancing requirements, and follow the directional signage at all times.

During & After Your Session

  • Use hand sanitiser (available at reception desk) prior to entering and exiting your designated court.
  • Please leave your court immediately after your session to avoid crowding in the area, and allow UQ Sport staff to carry out cleaning duties.

Before Your Session

  • Under Stage 2 restrictions, the UQ Sport Athletics Centre will open for approved UQ Athletics Club activities only.
  • All sessions will be coordinated by the UQ Athletics Club, and delivered as per the Club’s UQ Sport-approved COVIDSafe activity plan.
  • Only track access is permitted, with the venue separated into two (2) zones. A maximum of 20 participants (including coaches) are allowed per designated track zone.
  • All field event facilities remain closed, and UQ Sport hire equipment (including hurdles and starting blocks) is not available.
  • Track access is currently available to UQ Athletics Club members only. Bookings are essential and participants must contact the Club direct to pre-register.
  • Participants will be assigned a track zone by a UQ Athletics Club representative prior to the booked session commencing. Training groups are not to mingle or interact before, during or after the session. Athletes and coaches must not come within 10m of another group in another zone.
  • A UQ Athletics Club-appointed COVIDSafe Delegate must record the attendance, and contact details, of each participant prior to a booked session beginning.
  • Participants should arrive no more than five (5) minutes before their booked training session.
  • UQ Athletics Club representatives will distribute wristbands to all participants prior to the booked training session commencing. Wristbands must be worn at all times.
  • Participants will receive a safety briefing from a UQ Athletics Club representative prior to the session commencing.
  • UQ Athletics Club representatives are responsible for placing, moving and removing training aids – such as cones and markers – around the track.
  • Participants must adopt the Australian Institute of Sport’s (AIS) ‘Get in, train and get out’ recommendation, and arrive dressed and ready to train, and leave immediately after their session.
  • Changing rooms across UQ Sport venues are closed. Toilet facilities will be available on the top and bottom floor of the Athletics Centre, however, they are not intended to be used as a changing facility.
  • Seating in the Athletics Centre grandstand is closed.
  • Participants must maintain 1.5m physical distancing requirements, ensure good hygiene practices are maintained and follow the directional signage at all times.

During & After Your Session

  • The UQ Athletics Club is responsible for the safe and appropriate delivery of the training session, in accordance with their approved COVID-Safe Activity Plan. UQ Sport COVID-Safe Delegates will also be on-site if further assistance is required.
  • Participants must use the supplied hand sanitiser before and after the session.
  • Adhere to all venue and directional signage.
  • When on track, participants must maintain a 1.5m physical distance from others at all times. However, 2-3m physical distance is recommended when athletes are ventilating heavily.
  • When running in lanes, participants should use every second lane to ensure there is an adequate gap between athletes.
  • Participants must not run in groups, or in the slipstream of other athletes.
  • Participants must leave the premises immediately after the session to avoid crowding in the area. During Stage 2 restrictions, there should be no socialising before or after training sessions

Before Your Session

  • Playing Fields may be booked for group activities by both the general public, as well as the UQ community and UQ Sport Clubs, with an approved COVIDSafe activity plan in-place.
  • Field bookings will only be confirmed once a COVID-Safe Activity Plan has been submitted and approved by UQ Sport. Approved Field bookings are subject to current COVIDSafe guidelines, as advised by the Queensland Government.
  • A group-appointed COVIDSafe Delegate must record the attendance and contact details of each participant and inform group participants of processes outlined in their COVIDSafe plan prior to the booked session beginning. A UQ Sport delegate will check-in with the group-appointed COVIDSafe Delegate to ensure this process has been completed.
  • Participants must adopt the Australian Institute of Sport’s (AIS) ‘Get in, train and get out’ recommendation, and arrive dressed and ready to train, and leave immediately after their session.
  • Selected changing rooms across UQ Sport venues are open. If you require change rooms for your booking, please advise the UQ Sport bookings team by emailing bookings@uqsport.com.au.
  • Toilet facilities will be available, however, they are not intended to be used as a changing facility.
  • Participants should only arrive for the booked session close to the start time to avoid unnecessary congregating.
  • Participants must maintain 1.5m physical distancing requirements, ensure good hygiene practices are maintained and follow the directional signage at all times.

During & After Your Session

  • Participants must use the supplied hand sanitiser before and after the session.
  • Maintain a 1.5m physical distance from others at all times.
  • Adhere to all venue and directional signage.
  • The group-appointed COVIDSafe Delegate is responsible for the safe and appropriate delivery of the session, in accordance with the approved COVID-Safe Activity Plan. UQ Sport COVID-Safe Delegates will also be on-site if further assistance is required.
  • Participants must leave the premises immediately after the session to avoid crowding in the area. There should be no socialising before or after sessions

Outdoor courts across the St Lucia campus are now accessible for public use. Patrons using outdoor courts must adhere to physical distancing requirements, as imposed by the Queensland Government.

Bookings may be required for some outdoor courts (see venue signage).

Gatton Activity & Venue-specific Guidelines

Before Your Session

  • All Access Members and non-members may access the Fitness Centre for a maximum of two (2) hours per session. Venue capacity is capped at 85 gym users. Bookings are not required.
  • Adopt the Australian Institute of Sport’s (AIS) ‘Get in, train and get out’ recommendation, and arrive dressed and ready to train, and leave immediately after your session.
  • From Tuesday 14 July, changing rooms will be open at the Aquatic Centre. Limited shower facilities, and bench seating, will be available. Bags must not be left in the changing rooms while training. Please see UQ Sport for directions on where you can store your equipment.

During & After Your Session

  • Lap Swimming is available to All Access Members and Pass holders, and sessions are capped at a maximum of 45-minutes. Bookings are not required.
  • Pool space is limited to 33 swimmers at any one time.
  • Adopt the Australian Institute of Sport’s (AIS) ‘Get in, train and get out’ recommendation, and arrive dressed and ready to swim, and leave immediately after your session.
  • From Tuesday 14 July, changing rooms will be open at the Aquatic Centre. Limited shower facilities, and bench seating, will be available. Bags must not be left in the changing rooms while training. Please see UQ Sport for directions on where you can store your equipment.

  • Your belongings can be placed behind the diving block of your allocated lane. Please collect your belongings before leaving.

  • Gatton Group Fitness classes are capped at a maximum of 18 participants.
  • All Access Members and non-members may book-in for a Group Fitness class by calling or visiting the UQ Sport Gatton Fitness & Aquatic Centre during opening hours. Non-members will be required to purchase a Casual Group Fitness Pass, with payment (EFTPOS-only) to be taken at the time of your booking. To avoid disappointment, we recommend calling ahead of your preferred session time to secure a place.

  • Follow the directions of your UQ Sport Group Fitness Instructor who will allocate you a designated workout area.
  • Leave all workout equipment at your workout station. UQ Sport staff will clean and sanitise the equipment after your class.
  • Participants will be required to exit in a staggered fashion to maintain 1.5m physical distancing. Please follow the directions of your UQ Sport Group Fitness Instructor.
  • Exit via the brown doors, as directed. UQ Sport staff will record your departure.
