Yoga

At UQ Sport Fitness Centre we offer several different types of yoga classes. Some are more focused on toning and flexibility, and others are for relaxation and releasing stress. You’re sure to find a yoga class that suits what your mind or body needs.

Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa can be translated to “arranging something in a special way” – and that’s exactly what you’ll be doing in this class. Arranging your body into iconic yoga poses like Downward Dog and Mountain Pose, in a class coordinating breath with movement. It’s more fast-paced than other yoga classes, so you’ll flow from one pose to the next increasing your heart rate and building strength as you support your body against the pull of gravity.

Whether you’re a beginner or experienced yogi, you’ll reinvigorate the senses in one of UQ Sport’s Vinyasa Yoga classes.

Core Yoga
Core Yoga is a challenging class including movements from yoga and pilates to strengthen and tone the whole body, in particular the deep core muscles. Expect to use weights, blocks and bands to spice up the practice and get your blood flowing. Options will be given so that every level is welcome. No yoga experience needed.

Vin Yin Yoga
Take time for yourself and exercise mindfulness in Vin Yin Yoga. Vin Yin Yoga is a yoga sequence that combines Vinyasa Yoga and Yin Yoga. Participants get to experience the best of both practices; the first half of the sequence is Vinyasa (energizing, building strength, improving flexibility) and the second half is Yin Yoga (decrease stress, lengthen muscles, grounding). Leave your troubles on the mat and find your Yin in one of the below classes

Flow Hatha Yoga
Use your body and breath to tame your mind in Flow Hatha. Mind, body, breath, and spirit come together in a series of rolling yoga flows deeply elongating each muscle. This yoga class will build strength, correct body alignment, improve balance, and flexibility, and leave you feeling refreshed and relaxed.
