UniSport Nationals

Represent UQ at UniSport Nationals and compete against Australia’s best student-athletes!

UniSport Nationals brings together students from over 43 universities across Australia to compete at a national standard in more than 40 different sports.

In 2025, The University of Queensland sent more than 300 students across 41 teams and 23 sports, and the results were outstanding. UQ was crowned John White Spirit Champion University and North Region Overall Winner, claiming over five Division 1 championships.

UniSport Division 1 and 2 Nationals will be held in Perth, WA, from 26 September 2026, across an eight-day program featuring thousands of student-athletes competing in a wide range of sports.

UniSport Nationals Events

 

Nationals Triathlon

The UniSport Nationals Triathlon Championships will be held in Wollongong, NSW, at the Peoplecare Triathlon Wollongong. Competition will include men’s and women’s sprint and standard (Olympic) distance races as well as Para Triathlon events.

Nationals Athletics

The UniSport Nationals Athletics Championships will be held from 22–24 April at the Gold Coast Performance Centre on the Gold Coast, Queensland. The competition will feature a full schedule of track and field events, including sprints, middle and long-distance races, hurdles, jumps, throws, and relays, contested across both men’s and women’s competitions. Multi-class events will also be offered as part of the championship program.

Student-athletes wishing to compete must register through their member university in accordance with UniSport entry requirements and eligibility regulations.

Nationals 3x3 Basketball

UniSport Nationals 3×3 Basketball Championships will be hosted by the University of Canberra from 6-8 May. The event will feature men’s and women’s competitions contested across Division 1 and Division 2, delivered in the fast-paced 3×3 basketball format with short games played on a single half-court in accordance with FIBA 3×3 rules. A 3×3 wheelchair basketball competition will also be included as part of the championship program.

Each member university is eligible to nominate one men’s and one women’s team in each division. Teams must be entered through their university in accordance with UniSport registration processes, eligibility requirements, and event entry timelines.

Nationals Swimming

In 2026, the UniSport Nationals Swimming Championships will be contested from 15-17 May in Sydney, New South Wales, delivered as part of the 2026 Sydney Open at Sydney Olympic Park.

The three-day program will feature competition across individual and relay events, including sprint and endurance distances, contested in both men’s and women’s events. Multi-class events will also be offered as part of the championship program.

Nationals Distance Running

the UniSport Nationals Distance Running Championships will be held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, from 4-5 July, delivered in conjunction with the Gold Coast Marathon. The championships will be contested across the 10km, half marathon, and marathon events, with competition offered in both men’s and women’s categories. Multi-class events will also be included as part of the championship program.

Indigenous Nationals

Indigenous Nationals is a week-long multi-sport competition for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student-athletes from universities across Australia. The annual championships bring together participants to compete across a range of sports, fostering connection, pride, and community, while ultimately crowning one university as the overall champion.

In 2026, the 30th Indigenous Nationals will be held from 29 June to 3 July at the University of Newcastle in Newcastle, New South Wales. The event will feature a mixed-gender competition contested across four sports: touch football, basketball, netball, and volleyball, delivered through a comprehensive week-long program.

Student-athletes are nominated and registered through their member universities in accordance with Indigenous Nationals eligibility criteria and entry processes.

Nationals Div 1 & 2

UniSport Nationals 2026 will be hosted in Perth, WA, across an eight-day multi-sport program. The event will feature thousands of student-athletes competing across a wide range of sports and divisions.

Athlete and team entries are managed through member universities in accordance with UniSport policies and timelines.

UniSport Nationals is the premier event on the Australian university sport calendar, delivering large-scale, multi-sport competition while emphasising athlete experience, inter-university engagement, and high-quality event delivery.

Nationals T20 Cricket

The 2026 UniSport Nationals T20 Cricket Championships will be held on the Sunshine Coast, QLD. The tournament will be delivered in a condensed T20 format, with men’s and women’s teams competing across multiple matches throughout the week.
