Represent UQ at UniSport Nationals and compete against Australia’s best student-athletes!
UniSport Nationals brings together students from over 43 universities across Australia to compete at a national standard in more than 40 different sports.
In 2025, The University of Queensland sent more than 300 students across 41 teams and 23 sports, and the results were outstanding. UQ was crowned John White Spirit Champion University and North Region Overall Winner, claiming over five Division 1 championships.
UniSport Division 1 and 2 Nationals will be held in Perth, WA, from 26 September 2026, across an eight-day program featuring thousands of student-athletes competing in a wide range of sports.

In 2025, athletics will be held in the Gold Coast, Queensland (Kombumerri) at the Gold Coast Performance Centre from 22-24 April and will be contested in both men’s and women’s competitions. Multi-class events will also be offered in the competition.

In 2025, 3×3 basketball will be held in Melbourne (Kulin) Monash University from 27 May-29 May and will be contested in both men’s and women’s competitions. Each university is eligible to nominate one male and one female team into the competition.

In 2025, distance running will be held in Gold Coast, QLD (Kombumerri) in conjunction with the Gold Coast Marathon, July across the half marathon and marathon distances and will be contested in both men’s and women’s competitions.
Participants wishing to contest this event need to register through Gold Coast Marathon website electing the UniSport Nationals Distance Running Championships check box as part of the registration process.
UniSport Nationals will be held in Gold Coast, QLD (Kombumerri), from 27 September to 3 October 2025.
The UniSport flagship event takes place annually in September with attendance by over 6,000 student-athletes and participants from across Australia who take part in a week of sporting competition over 30 different sports.

National Indigenous Tertiary Education Student Games (NITESG) began in 1996 as a joint class project between 13 students enrolled in a Diploma of Aboriginal Studies (Community Recreation) at the then Wollotuka School for Aboriginal Studies, The University of Newcastle.
Now referred to Indigenous Nationals, the event is a week-long multisport competition for indigenous student-athletes. The annual event aims to bring together student-athletes from universities across Australia to compete in a variety of sports and ultimately crown one university team the champion of the games. Indigenous Nationals is an amazing environment to not only celebrate the rich sporting culture of indigenous Australia but to also acknowledge the heritage and history of the participating student-athletes.
The 29th Indigenous Nationals organising committee respectfully acknowledges the traditional owners of the land which the event will take place.
Indigenous Nationals is open to both staff and currently enrolled students of UniSport Australia (UniSport) member universities.
In maintaining the integrity of the Indigenous Nationals as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander event and in keeping with the rules of engagement, confirmation of Aboriginality is required by each player participating in the competition.

In 2025, swimming will be held in Sydney (Gadigal) as part of the 2025 Sydney Open Championships from 16-18 May at Sydney Olympic Park and will be contested in both men’s and women’s competitions. Multi-class events will also be offered in the competition.
In 2025, triathlon with be held as part of the Peoplecare Triathlon Wollongong, Wollongong, NSW (Woolyungah), on 27 April in both men’s and women’s sprint and standard (Olympic) distance races.
Participants wishing to contest this event need to register through Wollongong Triathlon website, selecting the UniSport Nationals Triathlon Championships check box as part of the registration process.
In 2025, the T20 cricket will be held in 28 July – 1 August, Maroochydore Cricket Club, Sunshine Coast, QLD (Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi), men’s and women’s competitions being contested. Timelines will be released as soon as they are confirmed.

The UniSport Nationals Triathlon Championships will be held in Wollongong, NSW, at the Peoplecare Triathlon Wollongong. Competition will include men’s and women’s sprint and standard (Olympic) distance races as well as Para Triathlon events.

The UniSport Nationals Athletics Championships will be held from 22–24 April at the Gold Coast Performance Centre on the Gold Coast, Queensland. The competition will feature a full schedule of track and field events, including sprints, middle and long-distance races, hurdles, jumps, throws, and relays, contested across both men’s and women’s competitions. Multi-class events will also be offered as part of the championship program.
Student-athletes wishing to compete must register through their member university in accordance with UniSport entry requirements and eligibility regulations.

UniSport Nationals 3×3 Basketball Championships will be hosted by the University of Canberra from 6-8 May. The event will feature men’s and women’s competitions contested across Division 1 and Division 2, delivered in the fast-paced 3×3 basketball format with short games played on a single half-court in accordance with FIBA 3×3 rules. A 3×3 wheelchair basketball competition will also be included as part of the championship program.
Each member university is eligible to nominate one men’s and one women’s team in each division. Teams must be entered through their university in accordance with UniSport registration processes, eligibility requirements, and event entry timelines.

In 2026, the UniSport Nationals Swimming Championships will be contested from 15-17 May in Sydney, New South Wales, delivered as part of the 2026 Sydney Open at Sydney Olympic Park.
The three-day program will feature competition across individual and relay events, including sprint and endurance distances, contested in both men’s and women’s events. Multi-class events will also be offered as part of the championship program.

the UniSport Nationals Distance Running Championships will be held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, from 4-5 July, delivered in conjunction with the Gold Coast Marathon. The championships will be contested across the 10km, half marathon, and marathon events, with competition offered in both men’s and women’s categories. Multi-class events will also be included as part of the championship program.

Indigenous Nationals is a week-long multi-sport competition for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student-athletes from universities across Australia. The annual championships bring together participants to compete across a range of sports, fostering connection, pride, and community, while ultimately crowning one university as the overall champion.
In 2026, the 30th Indigenous Nationals will be held from 29 June to 3 July at the University of Newcastle in Newcastle, New South Wales. The event will feature a mixed-gender competition contested across four sports: touch football, basketball, netball, and volleyball, delivered through a comprehensive week-long program.
Student-athletes are nominated and registered through their member universities in accordance with Indigenous Nationals eligibility criteria and entry processes.
