The University of Queensland is a member of the Australian Institute of Sport Elite Athlete Education Network. There are over 200 elite student-athletes studying at UQ, including Olympians, Paralympians, Commonwealth Games and Professional athletes.
The UQ Sport Elite Athlete Program supports approved elite athletes studying at the university by providing academic advocacy, personal development opportunities and resources. UQ Sport clubs can help to promote the program to athletes and may gain benefit by having elite athletes as participants in their clubs. To be eligible, athletes must meet clauses 30-37 of the Reasonable Adjustments – Students Procedure

The UQ Sport competition subsidy can provide funding of up to $1,500 p.a. to assist with competition costs such as flights, accommodation and registration fees when competing at eligible national and international sporting events.

Once you’re enrolled as a student, you’ll be able to apply for Elite Athlete Status via the My Requests page in my.UQ. Pending approval, you will then be invited to join the UQ Sport Elite Athlete Program and access associated supports.
