The UQ Sport Athletics Centre delivers a comprehensive selection of junior athletics programs and squads, all designed to get kids active and excited about track and field! Our professional coaching sessions run throughout the school term and holiday breaks, and cater to participants of all levels aged 6-17 years old. Whatever your child’s goals – from learning a new technique to setting a PB – our team of experienced coaches are committed to helping them reach new heights!
LOWER PRIMARY (6-9 YEARS)
The Lower Primary program is where fun meets fitness! Here, children are introduced to the basics of sprinting, jumping and throwing, all while making plenty of friends along the way.
UPPER PRIMARY (10-12 YEARS)
In Upper Primary, it’s all about learning to compete, with more advanced events – including relays, hurdles and javelin – incorporated into training. Sessions also focus on developing your child’s agility, balance and coordination skills.
JUNIOR ATHLETICS SQUAD (13-17 YEARS)
Our Junior Athletics Squad is ideal for state and national-level athletes looking to take their performance to another level! The program is centred on more advanced technical coaching in sprints, jumps and throws, with the further introduction of high jump flop and triple jump.
PRIMARY TRACK & FIELD (6-11 YEARS)
Children of all skill levels will love this super-fun holiday program, which will see your little legend try their hand at running, jumping and throwing exercises! There’s also a Junior All Comers Meet (ages 6-14) held at the end of the holiday session, allowing your child to put into practice all they’ve learned!
SECONDARY TRACK & FIELD (12-17 YEARS)
This program goes a little deeper in the coaching of sprints, jumps and throws, with other advanced events introduced – including high and triple jump. And it doesn’t matter if your child is new to athletics – our friendly coaches will tailor activities to match their skill level.
