The hot sticky months are finally behind us and we’re free to run in the crisp fresh air of Autumn. To celebrate, not only have we teamed up with the UQ Twilight Running Festival 2018, but we’ve pulled together five top notch running events you should definitely check out if you want progress from #plodder to #pacer!Starting 3 March | Weekly
Queensland Running events are held frequently during the autumn and winter months, providing courses throughout the state that cover distances ranging between 500m and 8,000m. A new category, ‘Fitness Walk’, has also been introduced – ideal for those for prefer a lighter workout.Sunday 4 March | 5-10km
Join a sea of pink at this year’s International Women’s Day Fun Run and support women with breast cancer. Having raised over $300,000 already, it’s safe to say this run is pretty popular, making for an awesome atmosphere.Sunday 18 March | 2km
Take the weekend off from your usual route and instead trek the family out to Mango Hill State School for their Mud Run fundraising event, designed to get you down and dirty for children’s education. The jammed-packed course will have you puffing from laughter and a smile from ear to ear – all in the name of a good cause.Saturday 24 March | 5km
We couldn’t help but shed some light on a brand new parkrun starting up at our very own UQ St Lucia campus. With the 5km timed event launching on March 24, parkrun enthusiasts of all ages and abilities are invited to time themselves and try out the scenic route following the river.Sunday 8 April | 7km- Half Marathon Categories
Brisbane’s Great South Run kicks off for its third year in a row, attracting thousands of local, interstate and international runners participating in 1km, 7km, 10km and even a Half Marathon.
The event encompasses the Queensland Athletics 2018 Half Marathon State Championships alongside their categories – so you’ll really be able to measure your success with the greats.April 22 | 1km | 5km | 10km | Half Marathon
Get set for the largest Twilight running event in Australia, hosted right here in our backyard at the University of Queensland St Lucia campus. In the past, this event has attracted over 6000 participants and we’re sure this special 10th anniversary will no doubt impress!
