Synthetic Fields

The sporting options are endless at the world-class UQ Synthetic Fields Precinct! Opened in 2016, the $24 million facility features an International Hockey Federation (FIH)-approved sand-filled turf (Field 4), as well as FIH Multisport and FIFA 1 Star-certified pitch (Field 5), each capable of hosting an array of activities – Touch football, soccer, lacrosse and ultimate disc, just to name a few. It can also be used for training when the grass fields are too wet.

The pitches also feature in-built shock pads to help reduce impact and injury. Plus, each field can be subdivided into thirds, allowing for up to six sports to be played at any one time!

Overlooking the playing fields is ViewPoint (or Building 33), a central hub that caters to athletes, supporters and function guests. The refurbished three-storey building features BrewPoint Cafe, six changing rooms, First Aid room and public toilets. ViewPoint, on the top floor – is capable of hosting up to 120 guests and is fully equipped with AV requirements for all types of meetings and functions.
