Questions & Answers

How do I enrol in a Short Course?

Get in touch with us at the Fitness Centre.

What are the age restrictions for Short Courses?

Our Short Courses are aimed at UQ students, staff, alumni, as well as the general public. As most of our participants are adults, our instructors are not required to hold a Blue Card. However, please contact us if you are under 18 and you wish to attend a Course.

Can I participate if I’m not a UQ student?

Our Short Courses are open to everyone.

Am I eligible for discount?

If you are currently studying at UQ or are a part of the UQ Community (staff and alumni), you will receive a discount.

Do I get the discount prices if I am from a different university?

No. Discounts only apply to UQ students, staff and alumni.

What is the refund/cancellation policy?

Please choose carefully as we do not refund in the event you change your mind. Refunds, cancellations or transfers will only be considered in extenuating circumstances. Individual situations will be considered with the provision of necessary documentation. If a refund is to be issued, it will be the pro rata balance of classes already conducted minus a 15% administration fee. No refunds will be issued if requested after the completion of a Short Course. If a Course is cancelled, we will offer you the opportunity to transfer into another Course of equal value, or refund you in full.

What if I miss the start of a Course?

If you miss the start of a Course but still want to join, you can enrol in the remaining weeks at a pro rata price. However, spaces may be limited.

What happens if I miss a class?

It is up to you to attend all classes set within the Course schedule. Refunds or transfers will only be considered in extenuating circumstances. Individual situations will be considered with the provision of necessary documentation.

Who will my instructor be?

All Short Course instructors are fully qualified and have the appropriate skills and experience to make their Course as beneficial to you as possible.

What do I need to bring for my Course?

A full list of what to bring can be found on each Short Course’s web page, or on the Course factsheet.

Do I need dance shoes for the dance Courses?

Dance shoes are not necessary for the dance Courses, however, smooth-soled shoes will help.

What happens if the weather is bad for outdoor Courses?

In the event of bad weather alternative arrangements may be made. Every effort will be made to contact you in advance to advise of any changes, otherwise head to your usual Course location.
